Fine Free Announcement

Thomas Ford Memorial Library is excited to share that we are officially going Fine Free! As of July 1, 2022, no overdue fines will be charged for materials that are checked out at our library.


Here is some important information to know:

  • Becoming Fine Free removes barriers to accessing the Library and helps provide an equitable experience for everyone in our community. For some patrons, the inability to pay a fine can cut off access to the Library when they need services the most.
  • Fines currently account for less than 0.37% of the Library’s annual revenue.
  • Of the 100 SWAN libraries, 70 are Fine Free, including nearly all of our neighboring libraries.  

Please note that bills for lost books, damage, and/or other charges will continue to be charged.
