How to Get a Library Card
Library cards are free to Western Springs residents and may be obtained by presenting 2 forms of identification with current Western Springs address at the front desk. The current cost of a nonresident library card is $400/year.
Materials Loan with Library Card
With a library card, you may check out unlimited books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines free of charge!
All library materials check out for 3 weeks with 2 renewals and can be placed on hold, with the following exceptions:
New Adult DVDs | 1 week, 2 renewals |
Launchpads | 1 week, no renewals, no holds |
Juvenile Storytime Books | 3 weeks, no renewals, no holds |
Juvenile Reference | noncirculating |
Magazines, current issue | noncirculating |
Fines
Fines for overdue items are 10¢ a day for each item. There is no grace period for fines.
Value of Your Library Card

Other Benefits With Your Library Card
Your library card also allows you to check out materials at any of the public libraries in our area library network.
You are also able to place your own holds, renew your books, and pay your fines online by logging into your account.
