How to Get a Library Card

Library cards are free to Western Springs residents and may be obtained by presenting 2 forms of identification with current Western Springs address at the front desk. The current cost of a nonresident library card is $400/year.

With a library card, you may check out books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines free of charge!

All library materials check out for 3 weeks with 2 renewals and can be placed on hold, with the following exceptions:

Fine-Free

No overdue fines will be charged for materials that are checked out at our library.

Use your library card at any SWAN library! SWAN is a group of 101 libraries that share resources to give you access to more books, media, downloads, and research databases. The SWAN Libraries + App lets you access the catalog and your account anytime, anywhere!

Other Benefits

Your library card also allows you to check out materials at any of the public libraries in our area library network.

You are also able to place your own holds, renew your books, and pay your fines online by logging into your account.
