Assistive Technology
The Library’s public PCs offer Windows’ Ease of Access accessibility options, which include a magnifier, text-to-speech functionality, larger on-screen keyboards, high-contrast viewing modes, and other ways to personalize your experience.
Magnifying glasses can be requested at the Adult & Teen Services Desk.
Children's Read Along Materials
The children’s Wonderbook collection combines an audiobook and a print book for a read-a-long experience. With the simple push of a button, children can follow along as the “talking book” reads them a story. Picture books, chapter books, and non-fiction books are all available in the Read Along collection.
eLibrary (Digital Collection)
Free digital content can be checked out from the comfort of your home at any time with your library card.

Additional Formats
The following additional formats are available in the library’s collection: Audiobook CD, eAudiobook, Pre-loaded Audio (Playaway), and Large Type. To search the catalog for materials in these formats, apply the desired filter under the Format field to your search query.
The library also offers DVDs and Blu-rays with closed captions and subtitles as well as instructional sign language materials.

Illinois Assistive Technology Program (IATP)
The Illinois Assistive Technology Program has been working to increase access to and acquisition of assistive technologies for Illinois residents since 1989. Requesting an existing product or a customized device specific to your needs is free for all Illinois residents with disabilities and/or health-related conditions.
National Library Service at the Library of Congress
The National Library Service (NLS) is a free braille and talking book library service for people with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical, perceptual, or reading disability that prevents them from using regular print materials.
Talking Book and Braille Service (TBBS)
The Illinois State Library offers this service via mail or digital download to any Illinois resident who is unable to read standard print material due to a permanent or temporary visual or physical disability. Visit the NLS for more information on eligibility guidelines.
