We are seeking an energetic, creative and outgoing individual who enjoys working with children. The position (18 hours per week including daytime hours and some evening and weekend hours) involves dealing directly with the public: providing reference and reader’s advisory services, answering the phone, planning and conducting storytimes and programs, and assisting with departmental services. Excellent customer service skills are required plus knowledge of children's and young adult literature. Must demonstrate strong computer skills.
Must be able to empathize with and relate to the needs of children, demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, and work with great accuracy and attention to detail. Must be able to adapt to changing work situations and job requirements.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. MLIS in progress welcome. One year experience working with children and caregivers.
Starting salary: $19.50/hr.
