Adding GPS locations in Google Earth
  • Open Google Earth (https://www.google.com/earth/)
  • Click the search icon on the left hand side
  • In the search box copy and paste the first coordinate and hit enter
  • Google Earth zooms into that location and coordinates will be displayed in the lower right corner.
  • Click “Add to project”
  • Change the title (for this puzzle, it’s recommended you number each location to know what order they go in)
  • Make sure it’s set to add to a New Project
  • Name the New Project whatever you would like
  • As you add the rest of the locations, make sure you add them to the same project name so they will all appear together on one map
  • When you’re finished, if you aren’t zoomed out you can click the Projects icon on the left hand side and choose the project you want to display.
Adding GPS Coordinates in Google Maps
  • Open Google Maps (https://www.google.com/maps)
  • In the search box copy and paste the first coordinate and hit enter
  • Google maps will zoom into that location
  • On the left hand side, click “Save” and choose “New list”
  • Name the list whatever you would like
  • As you add the rest of the locations, make sure you add them to the same list
  • After you add the last location, zoom out using the minus button in the bottom right hand corner until you can see all of the mapped locations.
  • Hint: the first location begins just under McMurdo Station
