Friday at the Ford

Friday at the Ford is the Library's series of coffeehouse concerts, which, as the name implies, are held on Fridays. This popular series has been supported by the Western Springs Library Friends since it began in the fall of 1997 with a performance by Route 66 troubadour David Williams. Since that time, there have been five concerts each year. Many of the concerts can be categorized as folk music, but we also include small setting presentations of barbershop, blues, jazz, and classical music. The concerts are always free of charge, thanks to the Friends, who also provide refreshments. See our Friday at the Ford CD collection for the performers' albums.

All Friday at the Ford concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Here are upcoming concerts:

Friday, September 10th at 7:30 p.m.

We start the 2010-2011 Friday at the Ford season with Patchouli, a progressive folk duo who fuse harmony, guitars, percussion, theology, and ethnobotony into their unique acoustic sound. Mixing their lively compositions with a few well-known standards, Julie and Bruce are highly entertaining for all ages.

Friday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m.

The Chicago Tribune compares singer-songwriter Bruce Holmes to an old English minstrel with modern sensibilities. With a science fiction novel and numerous songwriting awards to his credit, his performances are literate and witty. For adult audiences.
