Western Springs Library Friends
Who Are the Western Springs Library Friends?
Since 1953 the Friends has been a not-for-profit organization that raises funds to enrich the cultural opportunities available to library patrons and to provide financial support for the library facilities and services.
What Do the Friends Contribute to the Library?
- Have you ever enjoyed “Friday at the Ford”, “Get Crafty” programs, or special guest speakers?
- Has your child attended Youth Programs (Teen, Tween Space or childhood)?
- Have you had a children’s book donated to the library in honor of an addition to your family (Welcome Baby Book Program)?
- Have you participated in our Summer Reading Programs?
These are some of the many programs that the Friends sponsor. In addition, the Friends help the library staff purchase equipment, furniture and materials.
How Do the Friends Get Their Funds?
There are two primary sources of funds: semi-annual used book sales from donations and annual membership dues. The Friends also offer used books for sale on carts in the library lobby and book bags at the Circulation Desk.
Where and When Do the Friends Meet?
Board meetings convene in the Board Room in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. They take place on the second Wednesday of January, March, May, September, and November. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. and generally last one hour. They are attended by the Officers and board members. All members of The Friends are welcome.
